Live Fast...Play Dirty Motorsports
Debuts Aaron Daugherty in the Pro 4 Unlimited Class!

A funny thing happened on the way to qualifying!

DECEMBER 20, 2010
In preparation for the final rounds of racing in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series, the #23 Tuff Country Suspensions Pro Lite driven by Aaron Daugherty, had a problem.  It seemed that the truck might not hit the track for racing due to motor issues. As chance would have it, the team just so happened to have the 2nd Pro 4 Unlimited ready for racing in the pits.  In true Daugherty fashion, it was decided that Aaron would jump in and drive.  Having no experience in a Pro 4, Aaron took a few laps on Thursday and proved that he was ready.  An end over end flip while practicing on Saturday morning gave Aaron a jump on the "learning curve", and he was ready for his first battle with Dad, Jerry Daugherty.

For the first time ever, Dad and Son were on the track, not only together , but nose to tail.  Aaron started Round 15 directly behind Jerry Daugherty in the Magnaflow #23.  During the first few laps of racing, each of their strongest battle was eachother.  It was a great race to watch.  Eventually, Aaron passed Jerry in he Magnaflow machine, and came home with an impressive 8th place finish!  Jerry finished in 11th place while experiencing transmission trouble.

As the final racing for points came to a close, both drivers and fans alike, anxiously awaited the start of the Lucas Oil Cup on Sunday.  To say that there was "some" carnage would be to put it lightly.  With both Pro 2 and  Pro 4 classes combined, the field consisted of 28 trucks on the track.  Two of those truck held Jerry Daugherty and Aaron Daugherty.  The start of the race showed great racing by both Daughertys and both gained track posistion.  An unfortunate incident  in turn one caued the end of the day for the #23 of Jerry Daugherty. Jerry bicycled the truck and found ground to recover, but was hit while doing so.  This hit caused damage to the rear driver side and was forced to exit the track. Aaron stood his ground and battled until lap 19 of 21.  The Tuff Country Suspensions Pro 4 was hit in turn 1, flipped , and recovered.  Although Aaron was under power and ready for more, the Pro 4 machine pulled off the track to ensure no further issues.
It was a great, exciting weekend for the crew, drivers, fans, and sponsors alike!

Live Fast...Play Dirty Motorsports welcomes Tuff Country Suspensions & Suspension Connection to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway

NOVEMBER 15, 2010
Live Fast...Play Dirty Motorsports was pleased to welcome Tuff Country Suspensions to our team and to the LVMS.

Jerry, the Live Fast...Play Dirty Motorsports crew, and Lucas Oil Off Road Racing put on a great show for the crowds at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas the week before rounds of racing at LVMS.  Jerry joined Travis Coyne, Bryce Menzies, and Carl Renezeder to demonstrate a little of what these machines do on the track.
ROUND 13 - Jerry Daugherty and the Pro 4 Unlimited #23 began the weekend with a qualifying position of 10th for Saturdays race. A mechanical issue caused a quick ending to the qualifying session for the #23.  Upon taking the green flag, Jerry managed to race his way to a 6th place finish.
ROUND 14 - Starting from finish order in Round 13 and an inversion, Jerry started Round 14 in the front row next to Kyle LeDuc.  Knowing that there would be many fighting behind him, Jerry put it all out there to keep his position.  It seemed that Jerry would race faster and harder than he has all season, and made very impressive opening laps of the race.   Upon fighting to keep a position within the top few, a hit by Kyle LeDuc to the #23 caused the demise of components in the rear.  This caused an extremely disappointing end to an amazing run by Daugherty.  It did, however, get his head in the game for the final round of racing at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix!

Daugherty Racing is - Live Fast...Play Dirty Motorsports!

The Tuff Country Suspensions and Suspension Connection Pro Lite #23 driven by Aaron Daugherty, rolled out of the trailer ready for racing this past weekend in Las Vegas.

ROUND 13 - Saturdays race began with the #23 Pro Lite in the 8th position.  A flat tire caused Aaron to have to duck into the hot pits for repair. With the assistance of the crew and a new tire, Aaron worked his way through the pack to a fight for the 5th place position. Mid-air, entering turn 7, and incident involving Anthony Verdone caused him to flip.  This incident unfortunately caused the #23 to finish in 11th position.
ROUND 14 - Aaron started Sundays challenge in the 11th position due to the finishing order of Round 13.  Aaron ran a great race and came home with 7th place.

OCTOBER 11, 2010

Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series
Rounds 11 & 12
Speedworld Off Road Park
Surprise, AZ
September 25-26, 2010

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series returned to the Arizona desert for Rounds 11 & 12 of the premier short course off road racing events at Speedworl Off Road Park in Surprise.  In true fashion, the fans were rocked by the great battles that the racers provided. The track was exciting and mogul filled as expected, and the teams were on their games.
Jerry Daugherty and the Pro 4 #23 have made some impressive progress with this program.  It is evident that Jerry is pushing harder and gaining positions faster than in the prior rounds this season.   Saturdays qualifying placed Jerry in the 11th position.  Jerry soon decided that the MagnaFlow #23 needed to be closer to the front.  A few incidents including Kent Brascho and Curt LeDuc posed a few delays, but Jerry battled through
finishing in 7th place.  Sunday brought hot weather and great racing to the Speedworld track. A better qualifying position of 10th was held by the #23, and the crowds were ready for a great race.  The fans got what they came for with the Pro 4 Unlimited race, and the excitement was contagious.  A spin in turn 5 and some banging around took Jerry to the finishline in 7th place.

 Pro Lite Unlimited #23
Aaron  arrived in Arizona posting top ten practice times.   Qualifying 9th on Saturday, the crew had a few adjustments to make, then off to put the Toyo tires to the track!  Aaron and the MagnaFlow #23 were ready for battle.  Unfortunately, the motor was not.  An issue with overheating caused Aaron to pull off the track early during Round 11.  Round 12s green flag dropped with Aaron in the 11th position.  This round seemed to be a continual battle between Aaron adn Jacob Person.  Swapping positions and
avoiding the occasional wreck, Aaron, with a continual eye on the gauges, posted a 12th place finish.

Thanks to Lucas Oil, the staff and crew, and to our great sponsors for your
 continued support of Daugherty Racing.

See you all at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, November 6 & 7th!

Rounds 1 & 2 - Las Vegas motorspeedway

The Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series has set the pace for the 2010 season by debuting a fantastic, technical track that provided unbelievable racing.  The great amount of talent that staged for battle was one that has not been seen in some time.  This combination of track and talent left the fans, who packed the stands, making plans to head to Speedworld for Rounds 3 & 4.

Round 1 qualifying brought a beautiful afternoon, but an unfortunate suspension issue resulted in a position in the back for the start of Saturday’s race.  Working his way around the track and through the field, Jerry finished Round 1 with a 9th place finish.  Due to muddy track conditions, it was decided that Round 2 would start by finishing positions in Round 1 on Saturday.  Jerry would start 8th, but would soon fall into a bit of bad luck and being pushed around a bit in turn 1.  This left the MagnaFlow #23 with a broken tie rod.  The #23 is ready to prove it’s place in Round 3 & 4 in April.

Friday brought a 8th place qualifying position for Aaron and the Pro Lite Unlimited #23 for Round 1.  Saturday’s Round 1 event started in true wild fashion as Aaron got tangled up in a wreck in turn 2.  Unfortunately, soon after, the 1st Round ended with motor issues that kept Aaron from competing in Round 2 on Sunday. He will definitely be ready for Rounds 3 & 4 at Speedworld Off Road Park April 17-18th.

Congratulations to Jerry who finished 3rd in the 2009 Championship Standings!

Jerry Daugherty and the Pro 4 #23 had a few issues in qualifying on Friday putting him at the back of the pack for the start of Round 9 on Saturday evening.  Regardless of starting position, Jerry was able to stay out of trouble and bring home a top ten finish in 9th place.
Starting position of Round 10 was based upon the finish position of Round 9, putting Jerry in 9th at the start.  Jerry raced a great race, battling through the talent of the field, and persevering several incidents.  He and the #23 brought home a 6th place finish.
Pro Lite Unlimited #23
Aaron Daugherty arrived in CA ready to race and ready to shake off the gremlins that have made for some challenges over the past few rounds!!  Qualifying 7th on Friday, he definitely demonstrated his determination and anticipation to prove his worth.  When the green flag dropped on Saturday evening, Aaron began his battle to the front of the pack.  Racing his way to 5th position, Aaron was met with some wheel challenges that caused him to flip in turn 3.  This incident forced the untimely end to a great race for Aaron.
Round 10 on Sunday was again the proving ground for Aaron and his talents.  Starting 14th, Aaron did indeed prove himself!  Making his way through the field of competitors, Aaron raced a clean, fast race toward the front.  Taking the checkered flag, Aaron brought the #23 and the Daugherty Racing crew a 5th place finish.

Thanks to Lucas Oil, the staff and crew, and to our great sponsors for your continued support of Daugherty Racing.

See you all at Speedworld Off Road Park, September 25-26th!

Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series
Rounds 7 & 8
Miller Motorsports Park
Tooele, Utah
June 26-27, 2010

Rounds 7 & 8 brought great racing to the Miller Motorsports Park in Utah.
The Lucas Oil crews provided a great track that was both technical and fast!
Round 7
Jerry Daugherty and the Pro 4 Unlimited #23 had a few mechanical issues in qualifying on Saturday.  Transfer case problems kept the #23 from qualifying, but didnt keep it from making the race. Round 7 brought Jerry and the #23 a 7th place finish and looking forward to Round 8.
Aaron Daugherty and the Pro Lite Unlimited #23 also had some issues in qualifying on Saturday.  Unlike his Dad, Aaron took flight in a dramatic end over end flip ending his qualifying effort and sending the truck to the pits for re-building.  The crew went to work and got the truck on the track by race time.  Unfortunately, a few issues caused by the earlier incident, kept Aaron and the #23 from completing the race and ended with a 12th place finish.
Round 8
Jerry and Aaron were ready to change some luck come Sunday at Miller Motorsports Park.  Jerry in the Pro 4, started the race behind the Super Lite entry driven by John Harrah, who had a mechanical issue upon the drop of the green flag.  Once out from behind Harrahs truck, Jerry began his effort to make his way to the front.  An incident in turn 1 deterred his run, but he managed to pull out an 8th place finish in the round.
Aaron, determined to finish a race this season, set out for a minimum top 5 finish.  Starting 9th in Sundays race, Aaron made his way to the  6th position when he became tangled with Adam Wik which resulted in tie rod issues.  It is certain that once the gremlins are destroyed and a little luck changes, a podium is in the near future.

Thanks to Lucas Oil for an amazing season!

Surprise AZ - October 17-18, 2009.

Jerry Daugherty with Mike Stevens of Tilted Kilt Pubs & Eateries.

We at Daugherty know that you want the up to date news on the happenings of Off Road Racing.
Here is a bit of information on the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

Rounds 11 & 12 - Primm Nevada
It was great to have Aaron back on the track this past weekend in Primm.  With an impressive run in both Rounds 11 & 12, Aaron has everyone talking of what this next season might bring.  The start of Round 11 brought a bit of stress as Aarons brakes became inactive and he took flight over the top of the bank in turn 1.  Within seconds, and the slight miss of track workers, Aaron was back on the track to rally to a 7th place finish.  A 4th place finish in Round 12 was the talk of the pits.  Starting 8th in the race, Aaron battled his way through some of the  best drivers in the Unlimited Lite Class.  It will be exciting to see what he has to bring to the Lucas Oil Cup Challenge in December.  Lets hope he brings home the Cup!

Round 11 brought a 7th place finish for Jerry in the Unlimited 4, which helped him in the points race.  Unfortunately, Round 12 brought a less successful finish as Jerry and Kent Brascho made contact and the result was a bent tie rod on the #23.  The incident caused the #23 to lose some handling and an 8th place finish was the result.  Jerry is definitely looking forward to the Lucas Oil Cup Challenge on December 12th!
Thanks to Lucas Oil for an amazing season!
Rounds 7 & 8 under the lights in Lake Elsinore
made for a great turnout!

Lake Elsinore was tough on the Daugherty Racing team this past weekend, but never fear, Jerry and the team are back at work to get ready for the next battle. A few minor issues landed Jerry a 6th place finish on Saturday. After a great run for most of Sundays race, a knarly crash with two laps to go left the 23 without the chance for a podium possibility, but a 7th place finish nonetheless.

Thanks to everyone who has checked on the well being of Jerry. He is fine, and has just a few bruises. He is determined you know. Thanks to Lucas Oil, Dixie Choppers, Goodyear, Racin Dirty, K & N, Mastercraft, Tilted Kilt, Pro Power, and all of our great sponsors. As always, thanks to our great crew for all of their hard work!

Crazy weekend for the Daugherty Racing Crew!
Jerry took a 4th place finish on Saturday in Round 5 in Lake Elsinore.

Round 6 on Sunday was a bit more exciting!  Flipping the #23 Ultimate 4 over the rail and causing a bit of havoc in practice, the crew had their work cut out for them.  After 6 hours of hard work, the crew had Jerry back on the track just in time for the race.  The race was dominated by Kent Brasho and Jerry at the start, in which the two seemed to pull away from the field.  It was by far one of the best races the #23 has seen!  An unfortunate incident involving Kent Brasho and Carl Renezeder collected the #23 and flipped him again!

Thanks to the greatest crew in short course racing!  You are the best!

Thanks to the fans that braved the hot conditions this weekend as well!
What a weekend!  Primm proved to be a bittersweet beginning to the season!  Jerry took the win on Sunday afternoon!  Regardless of circumstance, Jerry has made a break through and proven that he has what it takes to be a competitor to beat!  Our crew, worked dilligently all weekend to put a truck on the track that can compete with the best. Thanks to them seems to be so minimal!  Tim has been trying to get an edge on what makes Jerry fired up fore three years now!  I guess he found it!

Unfortunately, Aaron had a few motor problems on Saturday, but never fear, he will be back in a set up that will handle his abilities!

First and foremost we want to thank the Sponsors that have supported Daugherty Racing throughout this past weekend. Without the help of Lucas Oil, Super Clean, K & N, and E3, along with the continuous support of Racin Dirty and our other sponsors, we would not have Had the ability to race this weekend.
We want to thank Goodyear Tires for not only stepping up to the plate and fully supporting Daugherty Racing, but also for giving us a great tire this weekend!!
Saturday was a ride as Jerry flipped the truck on lap 15, landed on his wheels, and kept his foot in the gas! He was able to make two laps on the beaten rig, but unforutnately, 1/2 lap to go, the wounds of the flip kicked in.  Thanks to the crew for having a great set up in the back up! Todd provided an amazing truck that will probably not remain in back up position!

Welcome to the Daugherty Racing Family K & N Engineering!  We are glad to have you on board.  Thanks for the support!
Daugherty Racing also wants to thank E3 Sparkplugs and Super Clean for coming on board to sponsor the team at the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series first race in Primm on April 4th-5th!!

Race Weekend recap from Chula Vista, CORR Rounds 11 & 12
Another fun filled race weekend, but not without a few problems. Saturday, Aaron Daugherty was racing hard in his Daugherty Racing, #17 Prolite and fighting his way up from starting 16th and was in 6th place when he spun out and went back to 13th. As he was working his way back through the pack he had taken 8th and was about to take 7th when his engine gave after 10 laps. A devastating blow to Aarons first full season. Unfortunately, the engine is a loss with three holes in the block. The Daugherty Racing Crew has been working hard and Aaron and his Pro Lite #17 truck will be able to finish the 2008 season. Jerry finished 9th in his Racin Dirty #23 Pro 4 on Saturday.
During qualifying on Sunday, Jerry was on it and racing hard, qualifying 8th with his best lap time only 1.6 seconds behind the leader. During the main Pro 4 event on Sunday, Jerry busted out racing harder than ever. After just three laps, a bolt came out of the steering wheel, which came off in Jerrys hands... after laying on the breaks and saying a little prayer, he came to a rest on the rail overlooking a nice big cliff. Phew! That was close!

Los Angeles County Rounds II & II ReCap

Well, our “shakedown gremlins” were still with us in Pomona unfortunately. On Media Day we had a broken drive line.  Got that fixed!  At Saturday’s first practice we discovered engine and transmission alignment problems which contributed to transmission and torque converter problems.   During the first race Saturday the needle and seat in the carburetor stuck, flooding the engine; then the second race on Sunday ended with the belt driving the power steering and water pump seized.  Jerry was driving the last few laps without power steering and an overheating engine!!

Once again we commend the Baldwin’s on their superior sportsmanship and camaraderie!  Those guys are awesome!  Since we “trashed our trannie” on Saturday, we borrowed a spare from them….thanks so very much!   Also special thanks and shout out to Andy Wahrenbrock and Sean Mooney for their help at both Antelope Valley and Pomona.  The Ricor Shock guys help throughout the weekend was very much appreciated.  Thanks also to Curt Greaves for all his helpful info and support.  And to all the rest of the crews who “pow wowed” with us late in to the night on Saturday.  You guys are the best!

On Saturday, one of our sponsors, Xtreme Couture, sent representatives to our pit area.  Sean and Phil, it was great having you there, and hopefully you’ll be back.  Phil (a UFC fighter) told us that he thought this “is just like the MMA of racing”.

Ron and Melody Minkley and their son Cole, of Covina, CA were at their very first CORR event and “adopted” Daugherty Racing!  During the hectic time before the first race, Ron was even volunteering to do anything he could to get the truck ready for the race!  That’s a true fan!!!  We look forward to seeing you in Chula Vista!

We’ll be back in the pack at Chula Vista better then ever after all the work that’s being put into our truck.  We’re really looking forward to the testing on June 5th at the track and then the actual races the weekend of the 9th and 10th.    Don’t forget to stop by our pit area to get Jerry’s autograph and to say hi to all the crew.

Just as a reminder, if anyone is interested in being a sponsor for Daugherty Racing, give Christie Daugherty a call at 702-400-1022 for information.

Antelope Valley Rounds I & II Re-Cap:

What a weekend we had at CORR’s 2007 opening at Antelope Valley!!  The adrenalin was pumping  faster than engine oil even before the races started and it was wonderful to feel not only the competition but the camaraderie with all the teams.  This is going to be a GREAT season!

As those of you who were there know, we had a mishap with suspension failure and drive train in the third lap, which quickly ended this race for us.  Many thanks to John Marking from Fox, as well as several other teams and fans offering their assistance.  A special “thanks” goes out to the Baldwins…their sportsmanship was world-class and much appreciated.  We have fixed the problem and are ready for the next race.

One of our newest fans, Kayla Sues, is a driver of the BPI sponsored Trophy Karts.  Kayla sent us her newsletter, in which she wrote,
“Special thanks to the team of Daugherty Racing.  They didn’t have the weekend they deserved, but with their professionalism and the manner in which they took their lumps, they are sure to come back with their shakedown gremlins fixed and in the hunt for a win at the next event in Pomona.  My Dad thanks you for your hospitality and I want to thank you for letting me into your pits and making me feel at home.  Thanks everyone in the Daugherty Camp.”

It was also our pleasure to assist another Trophy Kart driver over the weekend.  Willis Cox, driver of #4 had a problem with his Kart and needed some assistance early Sunday morning.  We gladly welded his front bumper for him and he was able to get back on the track.  In his gracious thank you note he mentions that we stopped working on our “billion dollar truck” to fix his…………which of course was a “slight” exaggeration. We were just happy that we were able to get you back in the race.
